The Gerber Neat Freak Salt, Fishing Braided Line Cutters 31-003553 was specifically designed to cut through solid fishing lines. The pair of scissors is enhanced with a very fine serrated edge to make sure you can easily cut through rough materials. The tiny serrations make sure the fishing line won't slip and enable you to cut with more precision. The Neat Freak is enhanced with a very characterizing blunt nose. As such you make sure you don't pierce something during use, like, for instance, a rubber boat.
This version is part of the Salt collection and can be recognized by the blue handle. The products from the Salt collection are mostly suited for use in areas with salt water. Like at sea or on the beach. Gerber enhanced these knives with SALT Rx. This is a coating on the blade that reduces the chance of corrosion even more.
The handle of the Gerber Neat Freak is comprised of a full-tang construction. This means that the entire handle is made from one piece of steel covered in a layer of plastic. As such the Neat Freak is extra robust and can handle its own. The handle is ergonomically shaped to make sure you don't wear out your hands during long-term use. The protrusion on the handle functions like a type of lever, making it even easier to use. Gerber wants to offer its users as much function in a small package. For that reason the handle contains a bottle opener, and a split shot crimper to attach pieces of lead to the line.
